When
the advertising agency for the most recognized soft drink
in the world was looking for a male voice talent to tag
some of their new full-length singing commercials by some
of the hottest, singing stars of the day, Chuck
Buell was
selected to tell us all just who it was singing many of
those memorable songs.
But
no one could predict at the time that the breezy style
of a one group, the New Seekers, would eventually turn
out
to be perhaps the most well-known tune of them all! So huge
was the response to this catchy musical presentation that
a million selling, Top Ten hit song, “I’d Like
to Teach the World to Sing,” was inspired by the original
commercial version, “I’d Like to Buy the World
a Coke!”
At the end of the 30, 60 and 90 second spots, It was Chuck
who proclaimed,
“The
New Seekers, buying the world a Coke!”
